Cairo

Action & Adventure • NR • Directed by: Maj. W.S. Van Dyke II • 101 minutes

Robert Young and Jeannette MacDonald spoof spy thrillers in this romantic musical comedy homage to the espionage genre set amid the intrigue of World War II Cairo. In London while between films, wise-cracking movie star Marcia Warren (MacDonald--San Francisco) catches the eye of dashing, supposed newspaperman Homer Smith (Young--"Father Knows Best," "Marcus Welby, M.D."). But Smith is really a spy who suspects Warren of being a Nazi. Now, as love blooms in a bed of suspicion, Warren and Smith travel to Egypt to trap the real agent.
