James Maxwell was a young up-and-coming artist in the New York City hip-art world. But after the tragic events of 9/11 took the lives of his best friends -- Alexander and Beth -- his life and dreams would forever change when he accepted guardianship of the couple’s two young daughters, Alexis and Grace. Now, eleven years later, and teaching art at an elementary school in Tribeca, he raises the two girls as if they were his own. But money is running out, the financial grind to live in NYC is too much, and he needs to simplify their lives. So, he reluctantly decides to take the girls away from the only place they have ever called home and move back to Buffalo in upstate New York where James and their father grew up as children. This “non-traditional” family now faced with change, new surroundings, and a new journey must find a way to adjust to this new life, as well as finding themselves along the way.
